the zubio difference |
|
The goal of Zubio is to make the benefits of professional massage available to the most people possible.
That's why we deliver massage on a chair.
There's no messy oil. No need to get naked. And no
need to take an hour or two out of your busy day.
That's why we offer Japanese acupressure.
It's the most efficient and effective way to deliver
the systemic benefits of massage.
And that's why Zubio Specialists are trained in our Katas. Like
martial arts practitioners, they can deliver a consistency of service
unmatched by any other massage company.

feel better fast |
|
Most people intuitively understand that massage feels
good. Zubio goes one step further. No matter how you
feel physically or mentally before sitting down in
one of our massage chairs, we guarantee that when
you get up, you'll feel better. And, if you don't
feel better, you don't have to pay. It's that simple.
How can we be so confident? Because
every Zubio Specialist is hired, trained and supervised
by our cofounder, David Palmer, who is widely regarded
as the father of contemporary chair massage. He developed
the first massage chair in the early 1980's and has
since trained over 11,000 massage practitioners in
our time-tested approach. Every Zubio Specialist has
to meet David's exceptionally high standards before
he or she is allowed to begin working on Zubio customers.

feel better often |

While a little Zubio Massage can significantly improve
your day, a lot of Zubio Massage on a regular basis
can provide significant prevention and wellness benefits.
The key to understanding the mechanism underlying
the cumulative effects of Zubio Massage is pretty
simple.
Circulation is
not optional
Our continued good health and well-being
relies on the free flowing circulation of blood, lymph,
and electrical energy in our bodies. But to have good
circulation, you must have movement. This is because
movement contracts our muscles and literally squeezes,
or "pumps," the circulation through our
bodies.
There are two basic types of movement.
First, there is active movement, such as walking,
stretching, and exercising. Second, there is passive
movement, where someone else moves your body. That's
where Zubio Massage comes in.
Zubio Massage is specifically designed
to enhance circulation throughout your body in at
least three ways:
1. By stretching and compressing the
tissue;
2. By relaxing chronically tight muscles; and
3. By stimulating specific acupressure points that
trigger the relaxation response and inhibit the
stress response of our autonomic nervous system.
Together, these three mechanisms set
in motion a cascade of powerful benefits.

the payoff |
|
By focusing on enhancing circulation, which affects
the whole person, it's easy to understand why regular
Zubio Massage has so many positive health benefits.
We know from research that, on a physical
level, massage can result in:
- Reduced blood pressure
- Decreased heart rate
- Lower incidence of flu and common cold
- Decreased incidence of headaches
- Reduced levels of salivary cortisol (stress hormone)
- Decreased levels of lower back pain
- Reduced symptoms of carpal tunnel syndrome
- Improved quality of sleep
Psychologically, research has also verified
that regular massage can result in:
- Reduced anxiety levels
- Lower number of depressed mood incidences
- Increased concentration
- Increased sense of relaxation
- Improved speed & accuracy in performing mathematical
calculations
- Decreased perception of stress
- Increased alertness (as shown on EEG)
- Decreased perception of job stress
The bottom line
On one level, the benefits of a Zubio Massage can
be summarized in the age-old maxim: "An ounce
of prevention is worth a pound of cure." Or,
as we say at Zubio, a regular Zubio Massage helps
prevent little problems from becoming big problems.
In that sense our massage is simply a pre-clinical
prevention strategy like good nutrition, regular exercise,
and brushing your teeth.
On another level, a Zubio Massage helps
you develop a heightened state of awareness about
how your body feels when it is in balance or starts
to become out of balance. With that information you
can tweak your lifestyle to keep spiraling upwards
in wellness.

the ultimate
payoff |

This is an old Japanese story about a woman who lived
all her married life with her nasty, demanding mother-in-law.
After her husband died, she decided she couldn't spent
the rest of her years taking care of this brutish
old woman. So she went to the village herbalist and
pleaded for a poison that would rid her of this bane
of her existence. After much resistance, but seeing
how much misery the woman was in, the herbalist finally
relented. He gave her an ointment and instructed her
to massage it into her mother-in-law's body at bedtime
and in thirty days she would be dead.
So, with the light heart of a person
who has been delivered from despair, every night the
widow gave her mother-in-law a thorough massage with
the ointment hoping that it would work as quickly
as possible. As the days passed, she noticed that
her mother-in-law was no longer as crabby as usual.
Her aches and pains that were making her unhappy began
to ease and she began helping around the house and
speaking more civilly to her daughter-in-law.
Slowly the widow began to notice that
her mood was also improving and she didn't feel so
angry toward her mother-in-law and, as the days passed,
she actually began to feel fondly toward her. On the
29th day of the treatment it finally dawned on her
that she had made a horrible mistake. She ran to the
herbalist in panic and said, "You must give me
an antidote to the poison for I have come to realize
that I love my mother-in-law and do not wish her to
die."
The herbalist calmed her down and replied,
"Do not be concerned. The ointment was not a
poison. All this time you have held the antidote to
your problem in your hands, which you have put to
good use." With that the widow went home with
great joy in her heart and lived with her mother-in-law
in harmony and peace.
